University Days set at MU

MANSFIELD – University Days, a Mansfield University tradition for more than three decades, will continue Thursday and Friday.

Each semester at MU begins with a schedule of workshops, events and meetings for staff and faculty, all geared toward getting the new academic year off to a positive start and promoting both a sense of community and learning. This year’s theme is “Sustainability in an Era of Change.”

The President’s Welcome Breakfast will be held in Manser Hall at 8 a.m. Thursday.

On Friday, convocation will be held at noon. The faculty and administration will process to Straughn Hall in full academic regalia with “The Spirit & The Pride of Pennsylvania” MU Marching Band providing musical accompaniment.

President Fran Hendricks, who took office at the end of May, will make his first welcoming address.

Jeffrey Bosworth, associate professor of History and Political Science, will be the featured speaker.

His topic will be “Hunting for Hope in Modern America.”

Convocation is presented by the University Senate.

New students arrive on campus on Thursday. Returning students begin arriving on Friday.

Fall semester classes begin at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 26.
