BU’s Multicultural Center hosts Flavors of the World

BLOOMSBURG – Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Office of Multicultural Affairs will offer an international taste test at its Flavors of the World event at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Multicultural Center in the Kehr Union. It is free and open to the public.

Co-sponsored by student organization DASL, which stands for Developing Ambitious Student Leaders, the event aims to bring the community together to celebrate and learn about other cultures through music and food, said Madelyn Rodriguez, director of Multicultural Affairs. A variety of international foods will be featured from local ethnic eateries and BU student chefs. Cultures represented will include Italian, Thai, Mexican and Polish.

The Ewabo Calypso Band will perform reggae and Latin music during the event. Their music, which emphasizes the steel drum, includes both international and contemporary selections. The band members also will share stories about the Caribbean culture.
