Community celebration welcomes new faces
MILLVILLE – Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, Greenwood Friends School community celebrated the beginning of the school year with new Head of School Andrew Smith, also saying thank you and farewell to last year’s Interim Head of School Cindy Schultz.
This summer, Smith and his wife Chris relocated to the area from West Virginia, where he most recently served as Head of School at Greenbrier Episcopal School.
Smith has experience as head of independent schools for almost 15 years and has taught and been otherwise involved in education for 30 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Haverford College and a master’s degree from Harvard University.
Former Interim Head of School Cynthia Schultz has long been involved with Greenwood as a parent of two alumni daughters and as a board member and volunteer.
She looks forward to continuing to be a part of the school’s community and looks forward to seeing the school continue to grow and develop. She has returned to her former position at the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble.
Parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and other friends of Greenwood will meet at the school for a potluck luncheon, enjoying a newly refurbished playground.
New friends will be welcomed, including primary teacher, Rebecca Dawson; art teacher, Ayami Borlik; music teacher, Erin Dietrick; and Spanish teacher, Dottie Grocott.
