Cortney Steinbacher named Girl of the Month
The Business and Professional Women’s Club Girl of the Month for September is Cortney Jane Steinbacher, daughter of Donald and Julie Steinbacher of Williamsport.
Steinbacher’s activities include National Honor Society, Students Against Destsructive Decisions, Constitutional Convention, mock trial, swimming, Future Business Leaders of America and Model U.N.
Steinbacher currently serves as treasurer for FBLA; she was also FBLA’s treasurer as a ninth grader. Last year, Cortney captained the varsity swim team. Outside school Steinbacher is very active in 4-H and has served as her club’s president for four years. She also holds a summer position with Steinbacher and Stahl law firm in Williamsport.
Steinbacher is a varsity letter winner in swimming. She has also finished in the top five at regional FBLA competition in each of her past three years of high school. In addition, Cortney is the senior student representative to the Jersey Shore Area School District school board.
Steinbacher enjoys quilting and reading. She plans to attend college for a degree in accounting and international business.
Brennan Eiswerth named Citizen of the Month
The Jersey Shore Lions’ Club Citizen of the Month for September is Brennan James Eiswerth son of Eric and Lisa Eiswerth, of Jersey Shore.
Eiswerth’s activities include Pep Club, National Honor Society, School Counts, basketball, football, Future Business Leaders of America and Outdoor Club.
Eiswerth served two years as treasurer of the outdoor club. This year, in addition to accepting the role of Outdoor Club’s president, he is the football team’s captain. Outside school, Eiswerth serves as volunteer and altar server at his church. He is a detasseler and crew manager for Camerer Farms.
Eiswerth is a regular member of the distinguished honor roll. In FBLA regional competition, he has placed first and second, and he placed fifth in state-level competition. He is a three-year varsity letter winner in football and was selected as a Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference Academic All-Star as a junior.
Eiswerth was selected to be a participant in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Conference and a member of the Mercy Summer Leadership Academy.
He enjoys fly fishing and hunting and plans to attend college for a degree in civil or mechanical engineering.
Watsontown Lions Club Student of the Month named
Mackenzie N. Mathna, daughter of Nancy and Scott Mathna, was named Watsontown Lions Club Student of the Month at Warrior Run High School for the month of September.
Mathna is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Student Council and has participated in school musicals and drama plays. She also participates in track and field and golf.
She is a varsity letter recipient, is an honor roll student and received awards for Most Outstanding Golfer and Outstanding Track and Field Athlete.
Following graduation, Mathna plans to attend college and major in recreation management.
Turbotville Lions Club Student of the Month named
Lynn E. Vermilya, daughter of Schawanna and John Vermilya, and granddaughter of Connie Eddy, was named Turbotville Lions Club Student of the Month at Warrior Run High School for the month of September.
Vermilya is a member of the Student Council and she hand-makes all the sashes for members of the court for the formal dances. She also participates in softball, field hockey, indoor field hocky and attends church and church activities. She has been a member of the honor roll and the second team for softball.
Vermilya is employed by the East Lycoming YMCA, Muncy, as a lifeguard. Following graduation, she plans to attend college and major in anesthesiology.
