DuBoistown Garden Club awards scholarships

The DuBoistown Garden Club recently awarded scholarships to local students.

Dominic Galanti of Montgomery Area School District, received the DuBoistown Garden Club High School Scholarship for 2013-14. Son of Beth and Charles Lowry and the late Joseph Galanti, he is attending Lycoming College.

The DuBoistown Garden Club also awarded the annual scholarship to a student at Penn College of Technology. Samuel Bubb of Williamsport is the recipient for 2013-14 and is a student in landscape/horticulture. In addition Lycoming College receives an annual scholarship to support the Clean Water Institute under the direction of Dr. Melvin Zimmerman, professor of Biology, and CWI director, Dr. Peter Petokas, research associate.

This award helps to provide students to spend their summer as interns with Lycoming College Clean Water Institute.

The Garden Club meets at 7 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at St. Lawrence Curch Hall, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport.
