Student theatre ensemble presents drama on Nazi Germany

MONTGOMERY – Montgomery High School, Virtuoso, will be presenting “Hiding in the Open” this month.

Virtuoso, the Montgomery High School music and theatre ensemble, presented their fall play Nov. 22 and 23 in the middle and high school auditorium. Written by Kira Obolensky, “Hiding in the Open” is a drama adapted from the memoir of Sabina Zimering depicting her escape from Nazi Germany.

“This play has been one of the most meaningful experiences our students have ever had. They are eager to bring such a powerful story to their audiences,” said the show’s director.

Virtuoso co-directors are Carina McNear and Jessica Carpenter. They welcome assistant director and new teacher to the district, Melissa Mabus.

Virtuoso has been in existence for 15 years, but is in its sixth season as a combined theatre and vocal ensemble. Virtuoso’s most recent performance was “Tarzan” last spring. The group will be present “SHREK, the Musical” in April 2014.
