Mansfield voice students excel at NATS competition

MANSFIELD – Nine Mansfield University voice students came away winners in their respective categories at the Allegheny Mountain Chapter of the National Association of Teaching of Singing (NATS) Fall Student Auditions held Nov. 9 at MU.

Five more Mansfield students advanced to the semifinals.

The winning students, their categories and hometowns are:

Musical Theatre: Sarah Polinski, Sayre.

Freshmen Men: Lucas Lourenco, Carlisle, and Mitchell Sensenig, Ephrata.

Sophomore Men: Heath DeGaramo, Laceyville, and Matthew Levine, Waynesboro.

Junior Men: James Scarantino, Ballston Lake, N.Y.

Senior Men: David Vest, Courtdale; Brandon Russell, Shippensburg; and John Mink, McAlisterville.

The following students were semifinalists:

Freshmen Women: Margaret Wood, Clay, N.Y., and Sarah Haley, Shortsville, N.Y.

Sophomore Women: Deanna Yoder, Bellville.

Senior Women: Tara Schumaker, Gilbertsville, Morgan Dubrey, Plattsburgh, N.Y.

All the MU students study voice with Alissa Rose, Young Kim or Todd Ranney

NATS is the largest association of teachers of singing in the world, with members in more than 25 countries, and the student auditions are one of the major activities of each NATS chapter.
