Montoursville places 1st at Academic Decathlon

The Academic Decathlon of Central Pennsylvania held its first competition for the 2013-14 year. At the fall meet, held on Nov. 7 at Philipsburg-Osceola High School, competitions were held in essay, language and literature, art and music.

Montoursville’s team came in first place out of eight teams. South Williamsport was fourth and St. John Neumann Regional Academy came in fifth.

Montoursville Area High School medal winners were:

Honors division – Amelia Deacon (11th), silver medals in art and essay, and silver for overall score and Brittany Bergquist (10th), gold in art.

Scholastic division – Alyssa Kriner (12th), gold in art and Haylee Young (11th), silver in art.

Varsity division – Aiyana Allanson (12th), gold in music and bronze in art.

Also competing for Montoursville were seniors Katie Black, Jerry Blaschuk, Logan Bomboy, Coral Klinger, Michael Leight and Clara Wright; sophomores Kyra Anthony, Ashley Cipcic, Emily Lucas and Joey Rose; and freshman Matt Marks.
