23 Montoursville FBLA members receive awards at regional competition
Twenty-three members of the Montoursville chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America placed high enough to advance to the state level in their competitive events.
The following students and their chapter adviser, Linda Keiser, will compete for top honors in their events at the 2014 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference April 7 through 9 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center: Molly Harris and Aria Plants are state finalists in business plan; Trevor Williams placed second and Cameron Ott placed third in accounting I; Sawyer Bressler placed second in the region, Ethan Jones placed third and Derrick Evans placed fifth in accounting II; Connor Bassett placed fourth in business calculations; Tyler Deters placed second in the region and Cheyenne placed fourth in business math; Nevan Schulte placed first in the region in business calculations; Nick Christ placed third in insurance and risk management; Payton Lynch placed first and Alyssa Kriner placed third in the region in economics; Scott Durrwachter, Randy Hall and Ethan Ranck placed second in marketing; Autumn Hall placed fifth and Carter Sechrist placed sixth in introduction to business; Collin Payne placed fourth in word processing; Brandon Flannery placed first, Brianna Gorsline placed second, and Jessica Dunkelberger placed sixth in help desk.
At the awards ceremony, Donate Life Pennsylvania, the recipient of this year’s state project, will be given a monetary contribution to be used toward the organization’s programs in Pennsylvania. Other highlights of the conference include individual, chapter and team competitive events relating to business skills and leadership, the election of a new state officer team; leadership development workshops and recognition of members’ community service efforts across the Commonwealth.
Future Business Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization whose mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. The twenty-three members in the Montoursville chapter are a part of the Pennsylvania membership of approximately 13,000 members.
