Central Susquehanna LPN Career Center announces December graduates

MILTON – Parents, spouses and part- and full-time employees were among the graduating class of the Central Susquehanna LPN Career Center’s 24-month, part-time program. Commencement was held at United Lutheran Church, Sunbury.

Carol Barbarich, program director, presented awards to three students. Jeffrey Benjamin of Bloomsburg received the achievement award for scoring the highest on a standardized achievement test.

Aubrey McAllister, Williamsport, received the Sally Crouse-Singer Maternal/Child Nursing Award. Sponsored by CSIU Executive Director Dr. Kevin Singer in his wife’s name, the award honors Mrs. Singer’s parents for providing support and guidance while she pursued her education and career in nursing.

Lori Snyder of Muncy received an award for perfect attendance, and was the recipient of the Brittany Mook Memorial Nursing Award, sponsored by family and friends of Brittany Mook. The award recognizes a part-time nursing graduate for his/her hard work, enthusiasm and dedication to the field of nursing. Snyder was also chosen by the class to be the student speaker.

Since 1967, the LPN Career Center has trained students for a career as a practical nurse. The CSIU assumed operation of the program in 1997, and in 2010 moved its location to Lewisburg. Over the past 15 years, more than 500 students have graduated from the program and 90 percent were successfully employed in this area.

Students can enroll in a part-time or full-time program, both of which are approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. For more information, visit www.csiu.org/LPN.
