Keystone Central to hold memorial scholarship recital

LOCK HAVEN – The Keystone Central School District Music Department will be holding the seventh annual William P. Kellerman Memorial Scholarship Recital at 2 p.m. March 16, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

There will be a reception with light refreshments afterward. The participants include former and current members of the Keystone Central music faculty: Michael Connor, Ashley Crust, Valerie Day, N. Kim Feerrar, Mel Hesser, Barbara Kellerman, Paul Kellerman, Marisa Lentz, Sherry McGraw, Cindy Middleton, Karen Neff, Laurie Neilson, Paul Nelson, Beth Regan, Martena Rogers, Brandy Ruff, George Sheriff, Patti Sheriff and David Sorgen. Shelley Sorgen, Denise Connor and Ned Wetherald will lend their talents to the recital as well.

Among the presentations will be an Irish ensemble, a Dixieland band and vocal and instrumental solos and duets in many styles. There also will be a mixed choir, brass ensemble, recorder ensemble, instrumental ensemble with Boomwhacker ostinato, eight-hand piano ensemble, French horn trio and a selection for organ, trumpet and choir.

The concert is held to support a scholarship in memory of William P. Kellerman, who was an outstanding student and musician in the Keystone Central School District.

Following graduation from Bald Eagle-Nittany High School, he touched many lives as a teacher and a performing musician. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kellerman Jr. The music department is honored to remember him by providing students from Central Mountain and Bucktail High Schools with a scholarship to further their education and help them attain their goals.

Donations may be sent to Keystone Central Foundation, P.O. Box 568, Lock Haven, PA 17745-0568. Checks should be made out to “Keystone Central Foundation.” Include on the memo line, “William P. Kellerman Scholarship Fund.”
