Stocum named Girl of the Month
The Business and Professional Women’s Club Girl of the Month for January is Mackenzie Marie Stocum, daughter of Todd and Melissa Stocum, of Jersey Shore.
Stocum’s activities include “Paw Print,” School Counts, National Honor Society, National Business Honor Society, Spanish Club, Constitutional Convention, Model U.N., Future Business Leaders of America and Relay For Life.
Stocum served as junior editor of the Paw Print and as reporter for ninth grade FBLA. In addition, she is a member of the Pennsylvania College of Technology chapter of THON and a member of National Association for the Education of Young Children. She also is a member of the Early Educators’ Club at Penn College.
Outside of school Stocum is a volunteer at the Jersey Shore Public Library and at the Waterville Apple Butter Festival.
She worked two summers at the Jersey Shore public pool and has held a position at Golden Crust Pizza. She currently is employed by the Madigan Library at Penn College.
Stocum is a regular member of the distinguished honor roll and has earned two state berths in FBLA and advanced to the national FBLA competition. She placed in the top 20 in the National Financial Capability Challenge in 2011.
She also is a varsity letter winner in soccer and has earned her PA Keys Professional Development Certificate in child education and has made the dean’s list at Penn College.
Stocum enjoys outdoor activities and movies.
Following graduation, she plans to attend Penn State University and major in childhood and early adolescent education.
