Montgomery students place first at state Entrepreneurship Challenge
EconomicsPennsylvania sponsored “The Entrepreneurship Challenge” recently held at the Susquehanna Country Club in Shamokin Dam. The conference brought students from area schools together and challenged them to identify a viable business concept.
Two students from Mrs. Marr’s entrepreneurship class took the challenge to the state level and won first place. Devon Donahue and Jared Hawkins created their business idea of “The Herbal Place.” The premise behind the business was to offer customers relief from every day stress and-or aches and pains using all natural, herbal medicines, aromatherapy and natural cures. For all their efforts, they will receive $200 in prize money to be shared.
The coupling of entrepreneurship class with the Entrepreneurship Challenge gives students a realistic approach to the real world. It allows students to “think outside the box” and use their learned knowledge and brings to life the interactions between producers and consumers and gives students a venue for learning about marketing, pricing, competition and more.
