Pitt’s perspective

As some people may know I am an avid reader. I love to read books from every genre. Out of all the books I’ve read, I think “Divergent,” by Veronica Roth is the best, by far.

It takes place in Chicago in the future, even though it doesn’t come out and say it’s in the future, you can infer the setting because they mention the Sears Tower.

The city is divided into five factions, Erudite the intelligent, Amity the peaceful, Abnegation the selfless, Candor the honest and Dauntless the brave.

Each of these factions play an important part to make the city function properly without conflict. The main character, Beatrice “Tris” Prior, turns 16 and takes an aptitude test to decide what faction is right for her.

Tris was born into Abnegation and her aptitude test was inconclusive so therefore Tris is divergent. At the choosing ceremony where Tris choses her faction she choses Dauntless. When Tris goes to Dauntless headquarters, she meets the coach Four and she and Four eventually fall in love.

The two of them try to save the city from the evil Erudite leader. I greatly recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed “The Hunger Games,” by Suzanne Collins. “Divergent” the movie came into theaters on March 21.

Until next time!
