Mansfield chamber honors youth leaders

The Mansfield Chamber of Commerce recently honored 22 graduating leaders from Southern Tioga School District and New Covenant Academy in Mansfield as Youth Leaders of Tomorrow.

A committee from the chamber interviewed the candidates and one winner was selected from each school who received a scholarship. They are Eric Kreger, Liberty High School; Erin Dempsy, Mansfield High School; Rebekah Erway, North Penn High School; and Kurtis Eby, New Covenant Academy.

Kreger, the son of Ichiko and Tim Kreger, of Morris, was the overall winner and will receive an additional scholarship. He participated in Future Business Leaders of America, Key Club, band, chorus, marching band, jazz band, men’s a capella group, soccer, basketball, tennis, National Honor Society and 2013 Tioga County Envirothon.

Other activities include Boy Scouts, Keystone Boys State, Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week, 2011 Leadership Institute and a mission trip to Swann’s Island in Maine. He also is the pianist at Morris/Blackwell United Methodist Church.

Following graduation, Kreger plans to attend Penn State University, State College, and study computer science.
