MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University Council of Trustees, upon the recommendation of Fran Hendricks, MU president, granted emeritus status to three retired MU faculty at its May 28 meeting.

Emeritus status was also granted posthumously to Bruce Barton, who passed away in November 2012.

Granted emeritus status and their years of service are:

Bruce Barton, English and modern languages, Aug. 1993-Nov. 2012.

Flor Blanco, English and modern languages, Jan. 1988-May 2013.

Judith Sornberger, English and modern languages, July 1990-May 2013.

William Chabala, psychology and academic and human development, Aug. 1976-May 2013.

Emeritus status is granted to full-time faculty in recognition of dedicated service to Mansfield University. The action was based on the recommendation of the academic departments, Provost David Stinebeck, and followed a poll of senior faculty.
