Piano students present programs
Area piano students presented programs consisting of one to 10 memorized pieces in the annual auditions sponsored by the National Guild of Piano Teachers, teacher division of the American College of Musicians, of which their teachers are a member.
The auditions were held in Clarke Chapel at Lycoming College on May 14. The student performances were evaluated by Barbara Weller Crain, of Altoona.
Students presenting programs were: Hannah Anderson, Eve Bittner, Ellen Boll, Ryan Cao, Lucy Cullen, Jordan Derr, Magan Eagleberger, Meredith Gardner, Crystal Hamilton, Isabella Heckert, Alyssa Hoffman, Cody Holland, Gavin Hormell, Grace Hormell, Rhiannon Jessell, Jacob King, Hannah Krizan, Alisa Lo, Simon Ludovico, Jenna Lutz, Kyle McCollum, Travis McNett, Madelyn Nicholas, Trace Peace, Tristan Peace, Alice Ravert, Sean Ravert, Emily Redmond, Alena Shaffer, Brilee Slodysko, Sophie Smith, Hayli Springer, Sadie Stahl, Linda Wen, Harmony Yeung, Joe Yeung and Jasmine Zheng.
Teachers of the students who participated in the guild auditions were: Jungwah Kim, Kilun Kim, Mary Alice Koch, Jane Landon, Rachel Ludovico and John Ravert Sr.
Thousands of piano students worldwide participate in the National Piano Playing Auditions, which are held annually in more than 880 music centers throughout the United States and abroad. Each participating student is awarded a certificate, an embossed pin, a report card and a year’s membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians. The program was established in 1929 by Dr. Irl Allison in Abilene, Texas, and is open to any student whose teacher is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
