Bradford Tioga Head Start initiates retirement savings plan

When Bradford-Tioga Head Start Inc. transitioned away from the Laurel Health System/Susquehanna Health system umbrella, making sure that the same or similar benefits were in place for employees was a top priority.

Bradford Tioga Head Start, along with the board of directors, began planning in March 2014.

They received presentations from three vendors that could provide retirement services. After reviewing and analyzing the information, board members Gene Yajko, Bill Farley and Ronald Gilbert, along with Bradford Tioga Head Start staff, decided to select Citizens & Northern Bank to provide retirement savings services.

C&N Bank representative, Michael Hatlee, handled all the planning and implementation stages. With Hatlee’s assistance, Bradford-Tioga Head Start has developed a retirement plan that offers employees not only a matching contribution by Bradford Tioga Head Start, but also includes a discretionary contribution that could be made annually, if certain budgetary goals are met.

After the enrollment deadline passed, Bradford Tioga Head Start reported that enrollment in the retirement plan increased by 15 employees compared with those enrolled last year.

Bradford-Tioga Head Start Inc. is a program which offers state and federally funded programs for pregnant mothers, families and their children, newborn up to the age of 5; this includes Early Head Start, Head Start and Pre-K Counts services.
