Matthew Fioretti recognized as student of excellence

The United States Achievement Academy announced that Matthew V. Fioretti, of South Williamsport, has been recognized as a student of excellence in mathematics, science, honor roll and random acts of kindness.

The academy recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American high school students.

Fioretti attends South Williamsport Area High School and was nominated for the honor by his teachers. He will appear in the United States Achievement Academy’s official yearbook, which is published nationally.

“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important thatn ever before in American’s history. Certainly, United Sates Achievement Academy students should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement,” said Dr. George Steven, founder of the academy.

The academy recognizes students on the recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors and other qualified sponsors and on the standards for selection set by the academy.

The standards for selection include academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability and recommendation from a qualified sponsor.

Fioretti is the son of Laurie A. Fioretti, of South Williamsport; and the grandson of Linda L. Smith, of South Williamsport; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Smith, of Williamsport; and Rose Newcomer, of Hughesville.
