Area schools announce Students of the Month

Stavinski

Kyle G. Stavinski, of Elysburg, an emergency medical services major, was chosen as the March Student of the Month at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Stavinski, who is scheduled to graduate in August, is an emergency medical technician for Area Services Inc. and has worked as an emergency room technician at Geisinger Medical Center and Evangelical Community Hospital.

“Kyle is a well-rounded adult who has pride in his education and pride in his chosen career,” his nominator said.

Stavinski has been involved with Special Olympics for more than five years, serving as a lifeguard and volunteer coordinator, helping to plan activities and fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment among participants.

“He presently is working on a means to have our paramedic students volunteer to promote our programs to the community, as well as providing an alternative learning opportunity for his class,” the nominator noted.

He has served as a student paramedic at the Little League World Series and volunteered for this year’s Northeastern/Central Pennsylvania Interprofessional Education Coalition Collaborative Care Summit. He also participated in last summer’s EMS Mass Casualty Incident training, a coordinated effort among Susquehanna Health EMS, Williamsport Regional Medical Center and Montoursville Area High School.

“Kyle is a leader,” his nominator added. “This was validated when his classmates in the paramedic program nominated him to be the class representative for the Pennsylvania College of Technology Paramedic Advisory Board.”

The institution’s academic advisory boards meet regularly to help ensure that curriculum continues to reflect workforce needs
