Susquehanna hosts honors band festival

SELINSGROVE – Several area students participated in Susquehanna University’s 23rd Annual Honors Band Festival.

The festival, which was held in mid-February, hosts high school musicians from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland and Connecticut.

The festival included the honors wind ensemble, honors band and festival band.

A performance by Susquehanna’s Symphonic Band closed the festival and was conducted by Eric Hinton, associate professor of music and director of bands; and guest conductor Rick Fleming, the director of bands at Buffalo State University.

Marilee Getgen, of Hughesville, is a member of the class of 2016 at Hughesville High School and the daughter of Francis and Heather Getgen.

Lauren Gooch, of Wellsboro, is a member of the class of 2015 at Wellsboro Area High School and the daughter of Timothy and Rhonda Gooch.

Kylie Kriner, of South Williamsport, is a member of the class of 2017 at South Williamsport Area High School and the daughter of Kim Stafford and Jim Kriner.

Daisy Rundio, of South Williamsport, is a member of the class of 2016 at South Williamsport Area High School and the daughter of Chris and Leslee Runio.

Hannah Summerson, of South Williamsport, is a member of the class of 2016 at South Williamsport Area High School and the daughter of Frank and Theresa Summerson.

Casandra Walters, of Unityville, is a member of the class of 2017 at Hughesville High School and the daughter of Bill and Kristie Walters.
