Williamsport to hold annual holiday essay contest

The Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation is once again conducting its annual holiday essay contest for Williamsport students in grades one through six.

Students will respond to the following prompt in 200 words or less: “If you could wish for just one thing this holiday season, what would it be? Why? And what would it mean to you?”

Essay deadline is Nov. 20 and winners will be notified on or by Dec. 4.

The top 25 contest winners will receive a free ticket to ride on the Polar Express at 6 p.m. on Dec. 11, sponsored by the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce. The top two winners will have their photo and essay published in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette education section and each will receive a $25 gift certificate to the Cinema Center, sponsored by the Sun-Gazette.

A panel of WASD Education Foundation board members will review and judge the entries.
