New commuter lounge dedicated at MU

The new Mansfield University Commuter Lounge in Alumni Hall was dedicated with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Responding to student feedback, discovered through retention efforts, the Department of Student Life and Leadership pursued the creation of a space designated for commuter students.

The lounge provides several amenities, including two micro-fridges, a toaster, coffee machine, flat screen TV, along with plenty of comfortable seating. Lockers are also available and are located just outside of the lounge.

“It’s a quiet, reflective space that helps me to fight off procrastination,” Jennifer Uhler, of Millerton, said.

“I like it because it gives me a place to go on my two hour break between classes and to do homework,” Caitlin McFall, of Canton, said.

The lounge is located on the second floor of Alumni Hall Student Center, across from the Mountie Den Campus Bookstore and behind the Information Booth. The lounge is open daily, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., with the exception of semester breaks and holidays.
