Area Students of the Month

Byrne

Cassie Byrne, senior at Loyalsock Township High School, daughter of Mike and Barbie Byrne, has been named the Loyalsock Township Lions Club Student of the Month for the month of September.

She has participated in Key Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions and Eco-Act. She also has worked blood drives and contributed to the recycling program.

After graduation, she plans to attend college and major in nursing, aspring to be a nurse practitioner.

Myriah Saar, senior at Loyalsock Township High School, daughter of Anna Lisa and Robert Saar, has been named the Loyalsock Township Lions Club Student of the Month for the month of October.

She has actively participated in her church and coordinated and taught a junior church within her church; as well as serving as a summer camp counselor. She is the president of Interact, that serves in partnership with Loyalsock’s sponsored Rotary club.

After graduation, she plans to attend college and pursue a degree in criminal justice administration.

Dunkleberger

Bryssa Dunkleberger, senior at Loyalsock Township High School, daughter of Lisa and Don Dunkleberger, has been named the Loyalsock Township Lions Club Student of the Month for the month of November.

She has participated in Lancer athletic programs and is a member of the Spanish Club, volunteering with the elementary school Spanish clinic. She also has volunteered with the middle school softball and basketball teams and the elementary basketball program.

After graduation, she plans to attend college, pursuing a degree in exploratory studies.

Plotnikova

Anya Plotnikova, senior at South Williamsport Jr. Sr. High School, daughter of Sergey Plotnikov and Irina Plotnikova, has been named the November Senior of the Month.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, Peace Corps Club, Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Teen Contacts; the Varsity tennis and track and field teams and competed in the Academic Decathlon.

Outside of school, Plotnikova is doing research with Dr. Jeffrey Newman at Lycoming College where she performs novel microbe research for publication and characterizes novel bacterial species found in local water sources. She also volunteers as a math tutor at Central Elementary.

After graduation, she plans to attend college and major in pre-medicine with a future plan to become a neurosurgeon.
