Lock Haven Faculty Member connects students with opportunities abroad

LOCK HAVEN — During the week of June 6-10, 2016, Dr. Regan Garey from the Lock Haven University Steven Poorman College of Business, information systems and human services was an invited guest lecturer at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Heidenheim (DHBW) in Heidenheim, Germany. Garey taught managerial accounting which included the basics of production and cost theory, cost-category calculation, cost-center and cost-unit calculation, systems of full and partial cost-accounting, financial accounting and decisions based on cost-accounting data during this one week mini-course.

Garey will return to Germany this summer to teach another accounting course in their international program.

In the fall of 2016, Garey leveraged this newly established international relationship by assigning a joint project, which connected her accounting students with the students in Germany.

“One of the main objectives of this new, and hopefully continuing relationship, with the International Business program in Germany is to allow our students at LHU opportunities to learn about the German university system, the German culture and people,” Garey said.
