Williamsport students named winners in writing contest
Four Williamsport Area Middle School students recently were named as regional winners in the Scholastic Writing Awards for Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Eighth-grade students Cate Chandler, Whitney Felix and Christopher Raker each earned an honorable mention for their work, with Iscah Rintelman earning a Silver Key Award.
The students earned their respective recognition for their entries in the following categories:
• Chandler for her short story, “Silver Constellations”
• Felix for her personal essay/memoir, “Cardiac Arrest Scare”
• Raker for his short story, “Brick”
• Rintelman for her short story, “Taken for Granted.”
Marywood University is the host of the Scholastic Writing Awards for Northeastern Pennsylvania. The competition was open to students in grades seven through 12.
The students were honored during an awards ceremony on recently at Marywood University.
