Area students win awards at Penn State Altoona

Gianna Zangara, of Williamsport, received the 2017 Penn State Altoona Servant Leader Award. This award recognizes an individual who has provided exemplary leadership in the area of volunteerism and philanthropy benefiting the campus, surrounding communities or community agency.

Ariana Paulhamus, of Jersey Shore, is the recipient of the 2017 Penn State Altoona General W.A. Morgan Award.

This award, made possible by Mimi Coppersmith Fredman, are given to first-year ROTC Cadets who have demonstrated leadership qualities and good character and have earned a minimum 3.0 grade-point average. The recipients are nominated and selected by the ROTC faculty.

Penn State Altoona’s student awards ceremony recognizes students for their academic, athletic, service and leadership achievements throughout the academic year.
