Williamsport Area High School seniors featured on billboards

Four Williamsport Area High School seniors will represent their classmates on a series of billboards set to launch today on the digital display along Market Street just off the Carl E. Stotz Little League Memorial Bridge.

The billboards, which feature students from the athletic, academic, arts and Career and Technical Education departments, showcase where the students are headed following graduation and what teacher influenced the decision to pursue his or her future plans.

Jalen Jackson, Christine McFadden, Dawson Redman and Anna Ziegler each will be on the digital display for a one-week flight leading up to the week of graduation. Each of the student’s billboards will display the following messages:

• Jackson — “Because of Mr. Rinker, I plan to study criminal justice at Lock Haven University this fall.”

• McFadden — “Because of Mr. Paulhamus, I plan to study clinical laboratory science at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.”

• Redman — “Because of Mr. Gephart, I plan to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.”

• Ziegler — “Because of Mrs. McDonough-Varner, I plan to study art therapy at Marywood University.

The billboard campaign was led by the Williamsport Area School District public relations department and education foundation, www.wasd.org/ foundation, in cooperation with the City of Williamsport and Lamar Advertising.

Each student both received and presented a replica of the billboards to the teacher mentioned on May 9.
