MANSFIELD –The team of Tyler Grabowski and Ryan Fluharty, members of the Mansfield University Bass Fishing Club last season, have both earned All-American honors from Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) for the 2016-17 season. Grabowski and Fluharty are the first MU anglers to be named All-American.

Earning a spot on the All-American team begins with regular season competition, and concludes at the national championship. Competitors earn their slots based on their finishes. For 2016-17, FLW recognizes 30 anglers, 15 two-person teams, as All-Americans.

“I remember when Ryan and Tyler enrolled as freshmen at MU,” John Szentesy, associate director of Financial Aid and Bass Fishing Club advisor, said. “They were excited to get started with their studies and the bass fishing team. They immediately became involved with the team and improved their skills by spending a lot of time on the water, studying maps, and talking with other anglers. They represented MU extremely well in and out of the classroom. Both of them graduated from the Fisheries program are enrolled in graduate schools. I couldn’t be prouder of them.”

Grabowski, a native of Fairless Hills, is doing his post graduate studies at the University of Illinois. Fluharty, who is from Perkiomenville, is studying at Auburn University.
