Streaming websites take the media

Over the past few years, streaming websites, such as Netflix and Hulu, have completely taken over the television industry.

With Netflix now having over 89 million users, the cable rates have gone down drastically. Since streaming websites now have more selections to choose from, no one really feels like they need to continue paying for cable TV.

While some people still watch the news or other important programs, most of the selections on TV are now offered on Netflix or Hulu to stream, such as “Friends,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Shameless.”

A lot of users claim they save way more money just by paying for a streaming website account.

Netflix had raised their prices in the past year, but is still much cheaper than your typical cable package.

Cable packages range from $19.99 up to $140. This obviously resulted to more people joining Netflix and Hulu.

The only downside is that these streaming websites don’t offer everything, but a majority of your favorite shows and movies. Paying for a streaming account would be much cheaper than cable TV.

However, many people still use cable TV.

“I would pay for cable TV because there are often a lot of things that you have to watch live, such as sporting events and many popular TV shows,” said junior Jared Holmes.
