First of three STEM Expos to be held

The Girls Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania will hold the first of three STEM Expos from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

The event is free for Girl Scouts in grades kindergarten through 12, and features dozens of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics hands-on activities for event attendees. Registration is still open for this event online at http://www.gshpa.org/content/gshpa/en/events-repository/2018/stem–expo–Penn.html.

Exhibitors include Whitewater Challengers, Lehigh Valley Zoo, AccuWeather, Discovery Machine, Da Vinci Science Center, Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland and more. Each exhibitor offers a hands-on STEM related activity for attendees.

Lock Haven University to host Bit of Fit-A-Thon fundraiser

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven University will host a Bit of Fit-A-Thon fundraiser from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 28 in the Student Recreation Center on the LHU campus.

LHU students, faculty and alumni will lead the fitness segments including the Lock Haven ROTC cadets; Katie Ely, associate professor of Criminal Justice; Cori Myers, ’91 alumna and professor of management; Lori Hoy, ’01 alumna; and other local instructors.

The event will include door prizes and 15-minutes segments of popular fitness classes like HITT, Core Fitness, Zumba, UrbanKick, Dance Fitness, ROTC-led exercises and others.

There is a cost, with discounts available for students. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Proceeds will benefit the Clinton County Women’s Center and the student groups, LHU’s Criminal Justice Honor Society — Alpha Phi Sigma, and Professional Business Fraternity — Alpha Kappa Psi.

Free parking on the LHU campus will be available in the white-lined spaces in the parking lots around the Student Recreation Center.
