Lindzey named dean of the College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences at LHU

LINDZEY

LOCK HAVEN — Jonathan Lindzey, Ph.D., has been appointed to the position of dean of the College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences at Lock Haven University. Lindzey’s term will begin by the middle of this month.

Lindzey holds a doctorate degree in behavioral endocrinology from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California Berkeley. At the conclusion of his doctoral work, Lindzey served as a post-doctoral fellow and then as research associate in the Endocrine Research Unit at the Mayo Foundation, then as a research fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIH).

He has served on the faculties of the University of South Florida, Clayton College and State University, and since 2005 in the Department of Biological Sciences at LHU, where he currently serves as full professor and chair.

“In the course of his roles as research scientist, faculty member and acting administrator, Dr. Lindzey has accrued a distinguished body of scholarship and achievements,” Michael Fiorentino, Ph.D, LHU president said. “The university, and the college, is fortunate to have a deep bench of truly talented veteran and emerging leaders to draw on, especially critical in the transition in executive leadership. I am both proud and grateful for Dr. Lindzey’s willingness to serve the university.”

During a period of significant transition in senior leadership, Lindzey served students and colleagues at LHU as acting associate dean, acting assistant provost and acting dean of the College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences. In the course of his roles as research scientist, faculty member and acting administrator, Lindzey has accrued a distinguished body of scholarship and achievements.

“Dr. Lindzey brings a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching and service to his new role as dean,” Donna Wilson, Ph.D., LHU provost and executive vice president, said. “He is an experienced academic leader; the college and the university are fortunate to have him in our ranks. Dr. Lindzey will be reaching out to our partners among alumni and in industry in short order, with a view to building mutually beneficial relationships to advance natural, behavioral and health sciences in the region.”
