STEP Head Start welcomes new director Carolyn Hawk
Carolyn Hawk stepped into the director position at STEP Head Start in January, bringing 24 years of early childhood education experience to the job. Coming from the Lycoming County United Way, where she served as vice president of Community Impact, Hawk has spent decades building partner networks, a skill that will benefit STEP Head Start as it engages with other agencies throughout Lycoming and Clinton counties to serve children and their families. “I am very excited to be back in the business of working with children. It feels like home!”
The Lycoming College graduate successfully completed Leadership Lycoming in 2015 and was part of the YWCA Women of Excellence Class of 2017. A mother of two daughters, Hawk has lived in the greater Williamsport area for her entire life and has many years of community volunteer experience.
“Having Carolyn join the STEP team is a wonderful fit. Her decades of experience, prior work with many of our staff, and fantastic knowledge and network within our service area add up to tremendous opportunity for us to elevate our early learning programs. It is an honor to have her as part of STEP moving forward.,” said Jim Plankenhorn, STEP president and CEO.
