Lock Haven University hosts ‘Yappy Hour’ dog walk
LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven University president, Robert Pignatello’s dog, Ralphie, will host “Yappy Hour” dog walk and social at 5 p.m. Sept. 25. The walk, open to dog owners and lovers, will begin at the Riverwalk Beach Overview Pavilion and end at the Brown Family Patio at the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center (DACC) on LHU’s campus.
“The ‘Yappy Hour’ is just one of many events to come, that will bring LHU faculty, staff and students together with members of the community for fun, socializing and making new friends — human and canine,” Pignatello said.
The Brown Family Patio at the DACC is named for John and Jane Brown, parents of Margery Krevsky Dosey, LHU trustee.
“My parents were avid dog enthusiasts,” Krevsky Dosey said. “My father was a sportsman, and always had a hunting dog, usually a German short-haired pointer. They both loved and had several Brittany spaniels who were members of family. They would love knowing their patio was a gathering center for follow canine lovers.”
There will be cookies and punch on the patio and canine guests will receive a LHU dog treat and fresh water. LHU dog items like bandanas, magnet and collars will be available to buy after the walk.
Future Yappy Hours will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27. In the case of inclement weather, events will be cancelled or rescheduled.
