Director appointed for Penn College Physician Assistant Program

Joshua A. Bower has been named director of the physician assistant program at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Bower is a certified physician assistant, licensed to practice in Pennsylvania. His primary focus is in ophthalmology. Prior to joining the Penn College staff in August, he was a physician assistant for six years at the Eye Center of Central PA.

He is a fellow of the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants and of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physician assistant from Penn College and a master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lycoming College.

“I am excited to welcome Joshua Bower as the director of physician assistant studies program,” said Sandra L. Richmond, dean of nursing and health sciences at the college. “Joshua is an experienced leader and physician assistant who will be an asset to the program as it transitions to the combined bachelor’s/master’s degree in physician assistant studies. Additionally, as an alumnus, Josh brings a solid understanding of the program from the student perspective, which will again strengthen his decision-making as we continuously strive to provide the best hands-on learning experience for our students.”

Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Bower honed his leadership skills as a branch manager for a national consumer finance company. He also has experience in the field of psychology, working with children and adults in foster care, group home and natural home settings.
