Lock Haven University announces 2018 homecoming activities

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven University will hold its 2018 homecoming activities Oct. 15-20, including the fourth LHU homecoming Block Party and annual Golf Cart Parade.

The festivities will begin Oct. 18 with the LHU annual homecoming Golf Cart Parade and Lawn Party from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Poorman Commons with free food, lawn games, music and more. The annual Alumni Golf Classic will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at Belles Springs Golf Course, 417 Fairground Road, Mill Hall. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The Kraft and Karry event, scheduled for 11 a.m, will also be held at Belles Springs.

The LHU Block Party will begin at 6 p.m. along Water Street with vendor booths, giveaways, raffles, and a variety of dining options from local restaurants. Food vendors include: Avenue 209, JB’s Festie Foods, Taco Inc., The Chef’s Station, We Be Cheesin,’ KC Kettle Corn, Lock Haven Area Jaycees, Funky Freezer and Central Mountain Key Club. Community vendors include: WSQV radio Rockin’ Road Show, Clinton County Historical Society, PSECU, AIDS Resource Alliance, Jenn’s Wax Shax, Damsel in Defense, Paparazzi by Kasandra, Smart Style Salon, Full Body Health and Fitness, Thirty-One, Downtown Lock Haven Inc., D.C. Underground, Aquatics and Critters, and Fast Break Inflatables. LHU vendors include: Alumni Association, Admissions, Career Services, Bookstore, Connect Unplugged, Pre-Vet Club, Diamonds N DaRuff, Colleges Against Cancer, Mountain Serve, Athletics, and University Players.

There also will be entertainment with guest performances on the Jaycee’s stage, corner of Water and Jay streets. Children’s activities will include games and pictures with LHU mascot, “Talon.” The LHU Pep Rally will begin at 8 p.m. on the Jaycee’s stage, followed by a fireworks show at Corman Amphitheater.

Free bus transportation by River Valley Transit from Lock Haven University to the Block Party will be available from 6 to 9:30 p.m. starting at North Fairview Street to and from the Lock Haven Area YMCA.

Numerous sporting events will take place throughout the weekend. The Bald Eagle football team will take on Bloomsburg at noon at Hubert Jack Stadium. The men’s soccer team will play Gannon University at 2 p.m. at the Stern Athletic Complex and women’s soccer will play Mansfield at 5 p.m. at Jack Stadium.
