Area students succeed at Susquehanna University

SELINSGROVE — Area gradautes from Jersey Shore High School and Mifflinburg Area High School recently have been acknowledged for their hardwork in classes and during summer internships.

Jersey Shore graduate’s internship

Madelyn Laubscher, of Jersey Shore, completed an internship this summer with Transitions of PA.

Laubscher is a biology major in Susquehanna University’s Class of 2022. A 2018 graduate of Jersey Shore High School, she is the daughter of Gary Laubscher and Jennifer Parks.

Business Honor Society

Mariah Guiswite, of Jersey Shore, was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society at Susquehanna University.

Beta Gamma Sigma recognizes top-performing students from around the world in business schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). To be eligible, students in Susquehanna’s Sigmund Weis School of Business must rank in the top 10 percent of their class.

AACSB accredits just 5 percent of schools worldwide assuring that BGS members belong to an organization synonymous with the highest standards of academic excellence. Honor society members benefit from a lifetime of programs, connections and opportunities to advance their careers.

Guiswite is an accounting major in the Class of 2021. A graduate of Jersey Shore Area Senior High School, she is the daughter of Wayne and Valerie Guiswite.

Mathematics Honor Society

Ian Reish, of Mifflinburg, was inducted into the Kappa Mu Epsilon mathematics honor society at Susquehanna University.

Kappa Mu Epsilon chapters are located in colleges and universities of recognized standing that offer a strong mathematics major.

Student members are selected from mathematics and other closely related fields who have maintained standards of scholarship, have professional merit and have attained academic distinction. The Susquehanna chapter was chartered in 1969.

Ian Reish, of Mifflinburg, is a mathematics major in the Class of 2021. A 2017 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School, he is the son of Rick Reish and Lexie Reish.
