Sullivan County?Medical Center upgrades continue
LAPORTE – Sullivan County Action, Inc., in partnership with the Pennsylvania College of Osteopathic Medicine and Geisinger Health System, is helping to bring enhanced care to the residents of the county as part of upgrades to Sullivan County Medical Center.
The goal of the project is to provide a central location for county residents to receive medical care.
A dental clinic has already been completed and will be complemented by digital radiology technology and telemedicine.
The first phase of the project was initiated in October 2011 with the opening of the dental clinic on the campus of the medical center,
Additional donations permitted technology to be purchased that will allow medical center staff to digitally transmit X-ray images for interpretation.
Phase two of the program addressed a telemedicine system allowing medical care during which patients and caregivers communicate by telephone, Internet or satellite-based video conferencing.
