New medical information officer named

Susquehanna Health has designated Dr. Victor Becker as chief medical information officer for the health system hospitals.

Becker will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in the planning, development and implementation of clinical information technology.

He also will act as a liaison between hospital medical staff and information technology staff to assess needs.

Becker has held the same position at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital since 2007 and has practiced family medicine at the Laurel Health Centers since 1999.

He received his bachelor’s degree from McGill University, medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

He completed his residency at the University of Rochester Highland Hospital Family Medicine.

Becker will continue to see patients two days a week at the Wellsboro Laurel Health Center, and will spend three days a week rotating between Tioga and Lycoming counties fulfilling his information technology duties.
