Coagulation testing machine in use at Jersey Shore Hospital

JERSEY?SHORE – Jersey Shore Hospital has acquired a coagulation analyzer

The Sysmex CA-1501 System is a compact, fully automated instrument which performs coagulation (clotting) testing using chromogenic, and immunologic methods.

This new unit will increase efficiency with rapid turnaround time and the ability to perform up to 120 tests per hour. It also saves technicians valuable time with the ability to load multiple reagent bottles at once.

Patient and staff safety is increased with several advanced features such as automated cap-piercing, and bar-code reading. This eliminates manual input and increases safety by accurately identifying samples with bar-code reading and direct tube aspiration.

“This new coagulation analyzer interfaces directly with MEDITECH, our Electronic Medical Record system. We are thrilled with the automatic cap-piercing feature, the accuracy of the results, and the increased patient-safety features,” said Ann Lovell Jersey Shore Hospital Laboratory Technician.

Within the past 2 years, the Jersey Shore Hospital Laboratory has acquired numerous hardware upgrades, with more to come in the near future. “We are very fortunate for all of the new equipment we have in our lab,” said Lisa Smith, laboratory administrative director at Jersey Shore Hospital. “The recent advances in technology are amazing and truly benefit our patients with safe and accurate results.”

The Sysmex CA-1501 System correlation (testing) phase is complete. The hospital now is fully utilizing this new coagulation analyzer in its laboratory.
