Jersey Shore Hospital announces hospitalists program
Jersey Shore Hospital will institute a hospitalist program starting immediately, which will improve patient care and reduce the amount of emergency room patient transfers to other facilities.
Offering this continuity of care program to hospitalized patients is a way to increase patient safety and satisfaction.
Hospitalists specialize in inpatient hospital care, focusing on the needs of patients from when they are admitted until discharged. Hospitalists work closely with the patient’s primary care provider or medical specialists, to oversee and monitor the patients’ conditions throughout their hospital stay.
Hospitalists collaborate with significant findings and treatment plans. Hospitalists handle the ordering of X-rays, lab work, and prescriptions throughout the patient’s visit, consulting with other specialists as needed. Once discharged, the patient will return to the care of their primary care physician.
Hospitalists are doctors who devote their practice to the care of hospitalized patients. This practice is a new specialty area of internal medicine. Hospitalists are available 24 hours a day and are easily accessible in emergencies or when issues arise.
“With a hospitalist onsite and readily available, response time to changes in patient conditions is immediate,” said Chelsea Reichard, manager of patient care services at Jersey Shore Hospital. “Our hospitalists are well respected, experienced, and highly qualified Physicians specializing in family practice and internal medicine. They provide optimal care for our patients throughout their hospital stay.”
The hospitalist program is reassuring to primary care providers and enhances patient comfort knowing that high-quality continual care is readily available around the clock. “Patients who enter our Emergency Room are now less likely to be transferred away from their community,” said Dr. Cynthia Recinto, JSH Hospitalists. “Keeping patients near their homes is important. It encourages their families to visit by reducing commute times. It is proven that family support is beneficial to the patient’s healing process.”
Jersey Shore Hospital strives to provide the community with advanced, personalized health care within reach. “The Hospitalists program is another example of Jersey Shore Hospital broadening their services to meet the needs of the community in which it serves,” said Carey Plummer, president and CEO of Jersey Shore Hospital.
