Upcoming screenings and support groups

Susquehanna Health’s upcoming events to provide health information and benefit the community include:

AARP driver safety refresher course

12:30 to 4:30 p.m., May 20

A four-hour AARP Refresher Course will be offered at The LifeCenter, Lycoming Mall for individuals who have previously attended the two-day, eight-hour AARP Driver Safety Program and have proof that they attended that course. Register by calling the Lincoln Senior Center at 570-323-3096, Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Pre-payment of $15 for AARP members or $20 for non-members is required. Checks can be mailed to the Lincoln Senior Center, 2138 Lincoln St., Williamsport, PA 17701. The program is provided in partnership with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Baby Cafe

5:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 21

Expecting, new or experienced mothers are encouraged to attend at Baby Cafe at the LifeCenter in the Lycoming Mall. The group discussion gives moms an opportunity to talk with other moms about their pregnancy and after birth experiences while spending time out of the house. It’s a safe and relaxed, child-friendly environment, and a board-certified lactation consultant will facilitate the group. Exchange tips about breastfeeding, receive breastfeeding support and discuss parenting concerns with other moms.

Mothers are encouraged to bring babies. Free weight checks for baby are available. Light refreshments are provided. To register, call 570-321-2069 or visit SusquehannaHealth.org/Events. Walk-ins are always welcome.

Pelvic pain support group

6 to 7 p.m. May 22

A Pelvic Pain Support Group is now available for women with chronic pelvic pain. This group meets on the fourth Thursday of the month and offers a positive and supportive environment where you can meet other women who live with endometriosis, interstitial cystitis and other pelvic pain conditions. This month’s meeting will be held at Costello Center Physical Therapy, Wenner Building, Divine Providence Hospital campus. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is appreciated. Call 570-320-7470 to reserve your seat.

Heartwork’s grief support group for children

6 p.m. May 27

Heartworks, Susquehanna Health Home Care & Hospice’s grief program, offers family-based peer support groups for preschool, elementary, middle school and high school-aged children and their parents/caregivers. The program is designed to help families explore and express their feelings in a safe, supportive environment. This month’s sessions will be held on Tuesdays at Divine Providence Hospital, Third floor, Williamsport. A light meal is served from 6 to 6:30 pm and followed by the group meeting from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. This program is free, but preregistration is required. Heartworks grief support group for young adults

7 to 8:30 p.m. May 28

Susquehanna Health’s Heartworks program offers a support group for young adults ages 18 to 35 who are coping with the death of someone close to them. This month’s meetings will be held at 7 pm on May 14 and 28 on the third floor of Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport. The group provides a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space for participants to share their loss experiences, express their feelings and take time to remember the one who has died. Low-cost blood screenings offered in Lock Haven

6:30 to 10:30 a.m., May 28

Susquehanna Health will offer low-cost blood screenings at the Medical Plaza at Lock Haven, 610 High Street, from 6:30 to 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 28. These screenings provide important information that helps you to be proactive about your health. Participants must consult with their physician about what test(s) may be most beneficial for them. Cash, check or credit card payment is required at the time of service. Preregistration is required for these screenings.
