Surgeon to give free talk on joint and arthritis pain

DANVILLE – Dr. Carmen Crofoot, a reconstruction orthopaedic surgeon for Geisinger Health System, will give a free talk about joint and arthritis pain and the treatment options at Nottingham Village Retirement Center, 60 Neitz Road, Northumberland, at 3 p.m. on June 27.

Dr. Crofoot will define arthritis and the different types, cover its symptoms and treatments, and explain how to modify daily activities for arthritis relief.

She also will address arthritic pain that is associated with joint pain and when a hip and/or knee replacement procedure is needed.

A demonstration and education on occupation therapy’s role in a total joint replacement procedure also will be provided by Melanie Shoffler, an occupational therapist at GeisingerShamokin Area Community Hospital.
