2016 Cookin’ Men event raises funds for center for breast health

LEWISBURG —  Evangelical Community Hospital held its sixth annual breast cancer awareness event, Cookin’ Men, on Oct. 20 in the newly expanded event space of Rusty Rail Brewing Company in Mifflinburg.

The event brings together local celebrity men who create culinary delights for people to enjoy while raising funds to support the Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health, according to a news release from Evangelical.

The release noted the event was a huge success, breaking all past event numbers, with a sold-out crowd of 450-plus attendees and volunteers coming out to taste the 30 different delicious creations of this year’s 26 celebrity male chefs/chef teams.

In total, the event was successful in raising approximately $44,000 for the Center for Breast Health, the highest amount ever raised at the event, the news release stated.

The Center for Breast Health offers screenings, financial support for women needing mammograms who are uninsured or underinsured, navigation services for those diagnosed with breast cancer, and survivorship programming.
