Soiree raises funds for Soldiers & Sailors

WELLSBORO — Dunham’s was full of festive fun, cheer and laughter at the 12th-annual Holiday Shopping Soiree held Nov. 5, according to a news release from Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital.

The hospital’s auxiliary teamed up with Dunham’s to present the event to raise funds for new hospital laboratory equipment, including a new coagulation analyzer to aid in the diagnosis of bleeding or clotting disorders, the release stated.

Shoppers snacked on fall refreshments as they perused the latest fashions, appliances and furniture. From 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Dunham’s Department Store and Furniture Store were open exclusively to soiree ticket holders, who received a 20 percent shopping discount, door prizes, craft and cooking demonstrations, free massages, wine and appetizers provided by the Penn Wells and 1905 Cafe, live music, raffles and free gift-wrapping.

“We had an excellent turnout to kick off the holiday giving season and are so thankful to our sponsors and everyone who participated for their ongoing support,” said Faith Preston, auxiliary/volunteer coordinator.
