Cancer caregiver gets national award
June K. Zimmerman, oncology social worker at UPMC Susquehanna’s Cancer Center, was one of six cancer caregivers in the U.S. recently honored with the American Cancer Society Lane W. Adams Quality of Life Award at a ceremony in Atlanta, accoring to a news release from UPMC Susquehanna.
The Lane W. Adams Award recognizes a caregiver for leadership in serving the complex needs of cancer patients and their families.
Zimmerman has worked for UPMC Susquehanna’s Cancer Center for over 25 years and has improved the lives of patients and families too numerous to count, the release noted.
OB-GYN joins Geisinger Lycoming
DANVILLE — Dr. Robert A. Donato recently joined the staff at Geisinger Lycoming Clinic in Montoursville.
Donato has practiced medicine in the Williamsport area since 1990, formerly in private practice. Donato also is an instructor in the physician assistant programs at Pennsylvania College of Technology and Lock Haven University. He also sits on Penn College’s Physician Advisory Council Board.
Eldredge certified in internal medicine
DANVILLE — Dr. Nathaniel E. Eldredge has been notified that he has passed the American Board of Internal Medicine examination and now is a board-certified physician in internal medicine, according to a news release from Geisinger Medical Center.
Eldredge accepted and is participating in a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine with Geisinger and resides in Bloomsburg.
Eldredge graduated from Loyalsock Township High School in 2005 and received a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from Juniata College, Huntingdon, in 2009. He is the son of Scott and Deanna Eldredge, Williamsport; grandson of Larry and Gail Eldredge, Cincinnatus, New York, and the late Edward and Carolyn Mayer, Williamsport.
Jersey Shore Hospital receives 2 Excellence ratings
JERSEY SHORE — The Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health Recognizes Jersey Shore Hospital for Excellence in Patient Satisfaction and Excellence in Outcomes, according to a news release from Jersey Shore Hospital.
The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health, or NOSORH, and iVantage recognize Pennsylvania as having 32 hospitals reach top quatrile performance status in 2016 for quality, outcomes, patient satisfaction and financial atrength compared to all acute care hospitals in the nation.
Jersey Shore Hospital was just one of four rural Pennsylvania hospitals recognized for excellence in patient satisfaction. Additionally, NOSORH recognized Jersey Shore Hospital for excellence in outcomes.
UPMC Susquehanna welcomes surgeon
Doctors Scott Croll and Timothy Judge have welcomed Dr. Bryson Nicholson to UPMC Susquehanna’s General Surgery team in the Health Innovation Center, 740 High St., Suite 1003, Williamsport, according to a news release from UPMC Susquehanna.
He specializes in laparoscopic surgery.
