Noon to 5 p.m. March 6

Community blood drive

Save a life with the Wellsboro Community Blood Bank. All are welcome to donate at the blood drive in the boardroom at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Donors are eligible if it has been 56 days since last donation, are healthy, over 110 pounds and at least 17 years old. Appointments are not necessary, but can be made if preferred. Baby Cafe at The LifeCenter

Baby Cafe at The LifeCenter offers moms an opportunity to exchange tips about breastfeeding, receive breastfeeding support and discuss parenting concerns. Getting Healthy for Your Surgery

For those with an elective surgical procedure scheduled in the next three-to-12 months. The session is the Williamsport YMCA. Physical therapy and nutrition services will provide patients with information to help them get in better shape before surgery. The LifeCenter, located at 641 Walnut St., provides monthly low-cost blood screenings to help you be proactive about your health. Free bone density screen:

1-3 p.m. March 16, at the Community Health and Wellness Center. Qualification: Have not had a DXA scan in past two years, have not had a heel bone density test in past year and meet one of the following criteria: Over 65, post-menopausal or pre-menopausal with high risk factors.

Prepared childbirth classes:

• Prepared childbirth refresher class: Dates are not pre-determined; call the Community Health and Wellness Center at 570-786-3200 to schedule your class. Registration fee. Designed to refresh parents on the basics of childbirth.

• Hello baby class (for siblings ages 2-10): 6:15-7:45 p.m. March 6, at Apple AB Conference Room, on the lower level of Evangelical Community Hospital. Cost per family. This class teaches brothers and sisters how to diaper, swaddle and hold a baby.

• Prenatal breastfeeding: 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 15, at the Community Health and Wellness Center. Fee per couple. For the expectant mother and one support person. The course covers the advantages of breastfeeding and the common concerns associated with it.

• Prepared childbirth class: Thursdays, March 23- April 13, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Community Health and Wellness Center. Fee per couple. Class runs for four consecutive weeks.

CPR classes:

• Healthcare Provider CPR Class: 6-10 p.m. Thursday, at the Community Health and Wellness Center. For the health-care provider in and out of hospital settings in need of CPR certification. Fee with registration is required; call 570-768-3200.

• Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, and AED Skills Check Class: 8:30 a.m. Friday, or 12:30 p.m. March 17, at the Community Health and Wellness Center. Designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for first aid, CPR, and AED training. It’s intended for anyone with little to no medical training in need of a course completion card. Participants must complete the online portion through the AHA website before taking this class. Fee with registration is required; call 570-768-3200 or register online.

• HeartCode BLS Skills Check Class: 12:30 p.m. Friday or 8:30 a.m. March 17, at the Community Health and Wellness Center. For health-care professionals seeking an alternative method for completing an initial or renewal course and have completed the online portion through the American Heart Association website. • Why Weight: Wednesday-April 5, 6-7:15 p.m., at the Community Health and Wellness Center. A six-week weight management program led by a certified health coach and registered dietitian. Topics to be covered include healthy meal planning, exercise and behavior modification strategies designed to facilitate lifestyle change and gradual lasting weight loss.
