Display will aid awareness of threat of colon cancer
As part of an effort to talk openly about colon cancer, UPMC Susquehanna offers a giant inflatable colon that the public can walk through, according to a news release from the local health organization.
Digestive Disease Center and endoscopy representatives will offer educational tours of the display on Wednesday and on March 22 and March 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the main entrance lobby of Williamsport Regional Medical Center, 700 High St.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women and men in the United States, and early detection improves prevention and treatment, the news release stated.
In additon to the tours, representatives from the Digestive Disease Center and endoscopy will talk with visitors about colon health, the importance of routine screenings and colon cancer awareness.
