Lycoming Creek Anglers Club to hold fishing derby for kids

TROUT RUN – The Lycoming Creek Anglers Club will hold a children’s fishing derby on June 1 at Sheshequin Campgrounds, seven miles north of here on Route 14 at the Marsh Hill Bridge.

It is open to children ages 3 to 13 years. Fishing will be divided between age groups, as follows:

Ages 3-4 will register at 8:30 a.m. and fish from 9 to 10 a.m.

  • Ages 5-6 will register at 10 a.m. and fish from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
  • Ages 7-9 will register at 11:30 a.m. and fish from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Ages 10-13 will register at 1 p.m. and fish from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

Bait will be available for anglers.

The club intends to award a prize to every child who registers. Any individual or business that would like to donate prizes or funds should call Sam Caldwell at 322-6098.

Families that wish to reserve a camping site at the campgrounds and who will have a child participating in the derby will receive a campground discount for that weekend. To reserve a site, call 995-9230 or 1-888-995-9230.

The derby will be held rain or shine and the area is handicap accessible.
