Bird, flower walks offered
The Lycoming Audubon Society will hold two public events next weekend.
First, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, weather permitting, a bird walk will be held in the South Williamsport Community Park.
Loaner binoculars are available, and the trip leaders are Maddi Dunlap and Jean Dalton.
Attendees do not need to register, but should meet in the parking lot by the park entrance on East Central Avenue.
The second event will be held the following afternoon. At 2:30 p.m. next Sunday, Larry Waltz and Nancy Hornberger will lead and birding and wildflower walk at Canfield Island in Loyalsock Township.
This event is designed for beginners and will consist of an easy stroll around the island to look for songbirds and raptors and to learn some wildflower identification. Loaner binoculars will be available.
The walk also is dependent on the weather.
Attendees should meet at the Riverfront Park pavilion parking lot. Turn off East Third Street onto Canfield Lane, by the Super 8 Motel, and follow the signs.
